New witness to take the stand at the Madlanga Commission

A former member of the SAPS Directorate of Priority Crime Investigation, better known as the Hawks, retired Lieutenant-Colonel Jakobus Prinsloo is expected to take the stand at the Madlanga Commission.

He will be testifying on the theft of drugs from the Hawks’ premises in Port Shepstone, KwaZulu-Natal.

The Commission is probing the disappearance of 541 kilograms of cocaine from the Hawks’ strong room in November 2021.

On Wednesday, the Directorate’s Major-General Hendrik Flynn testified that there were seven break-ins at the Hawks’ Port Shepstone premises before the R200 million cocaine theft.

The Commission has heard that the Hawks’ premises were not equipped with CCTV cameras and lacked 24-hour security personnel.

No arrests have been made, and investigations are said to be at a sensitive stage.
