SACP criticises DA’s billboard in GP, calling it a desperate move

The South African Communist Party (SACP) in Gauteng has criticised the DA’s billboard of the province’s Premier Panyaza Lesufi in a shower, calling it a desperate political move.

The billboard on Stormvoël Road in Pretoria reads “The ANC showers in hotels, you have no water” and the tagline “Vote DA to put water in your taps”.

The campaign takes direct aim at Lesufi following his recent remarks that he had to shower at a hotel during water supply disruptions.

SACP’s provincial spokesperson, Nkosithethile Bonga, says the billboard is misleading and distasteful.

“The billboard is misleading, it’s disingenuous, distasteful, dishonest, and we call for the public to reject it on the basis that the premier is on record apologising for the unfortunate remarks that he had made. I mean, he made it his opening remarks at the state of the province address and without even being compelled, unlike the DA, an organisation that has a lot to apologise about, and they refuse to apologise. So they are the last people to create a frenzy around such a thing.”
