Principal to apply for bail for allegedly killing business partner

The Magistrates’ Court in KuGompo City in the Eastern Cape is expected to hear the bail application of suspended school Principal, George Plaatjies.

Plaatjies is facing charges of murder and conspiracy to commit murder of his business partner, Zovuyo Mbana.

Mbana was reported missing, and her body was found along the N6 near Kwetyana village outside KuGompo City, set alight.

The state is expected to argue its reasons for opposing bail.

Provincial Education MEC, Fundile Gade, says disciplinary processes are underway following the suspension of Plaatjies.

“The investigation is already on the way, and we have also interacted with the Department of Safety to strengthen the collaboration between the child’s act and the criminal act so that we can close shop on that one. We are just intolerant of anything that has to do with gender-based violence and femicide in the institutions of learning, especially to kids, that one is non-negotiable.”
