Suspended EMPD deputy chief Julius Mkhwanazi and the city manager, Kagiso Lerutla in the Boksburg Magistrate’s court
Suspended EMPD deputy chief Julius Mkhwanazi and the city manager, Kagiso Lerutla, are applying for bail in the Boksburg Magistrate’s court.
They were arrested over the weekend on charges of corruption, fraud and defeating the ends of justice.
The case stems from an incident in March 2019 when Lerutla was arrested by traffic police for speeding.
The state’s case is that Mkhwanazi and Lerutla allegedly recruited an associate to impersonate Lerutla in court whilst he attended an interview.
The state has also added one more charge on them.
