Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana.
Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana has told Parliament that he is applying his mind to the issue of the fuel levy.
This is after government reduced the levy temporarily by R3 per litre from the first of this month.
Godongwana was participating in the consideration of the Division of Revenue Bill, which was passed by the National Assembly by 228 votes against 78 and there was no abstention on Tuesday.
He was responding to calls in the National Assembly for fuel relief for the duration of the US- Israel war on Iran.
“At the appropriate time, possible because I promised South Africans that at the end of the month, I’m going to do a review after consulting stubborn Minister Mantashe [Mineral and Petroleum Resources Minister Gwede Mantashe]. I will probably make the necessary announcement on the 28th, on Tuesday,” says Godongwana.
