Trees fallen on the road.
Strong winds have caused hazardous driving conditions in parts of the Eastern Cape, disrupting traffic flow.
The N2 between Makhanda and Gqeberha has been among the hardest hit, with a truck and trailer reportedly blown over by strong winds near the Coega area.
Fallen trees have also been reported along sections of the route outside Makhanda.
Similar strong wind conditions are being experienced across Nelson Mandela Bay, Buffalo City Metro and the greater Amathole District.
Motorists, particularly drivers of larger vehicles like trucks, are urged to exercise extreme caution, reduce speed, and remain alert as adverse weather conditions persist across the Eastern Cape.
Provincial Roads and Transport spokesperson Unathi Binqose says, “We are now experiencing strong winds across several parts of the province following heavy rains that have caused dangerous conditions particularly along the N2 corridor, trucks, private cars are vulnerable, we urge motorists to keep safe speed, keep both hands firmly on the steering wheel.”
