MEC for Health and Wellness Faith Mazibukosa celebrating International Nurses Day with retired nurses
The Gauteng Department of Health has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the province’s healthcare workforce, as the world marks International Nurses Day.
Health MEC Faith Mazibuko says nurses remain the backbone of the public healthcare system.
The Gauteng College of Nursing has produced more than 2 100 graduates between 2023 and 2026 to help meet growing healthcare demands.
The department has also called on communities to respect and protect healthcare workers.
The department’s spokesperson Steve Mabona has thanked nurses across South Africa for their dedication and service.
“As a part of International Nurses Day , we as the department extend our sincere appreciation to all our nurses for their selfless service and continued commitment to improve the health and well being of the people of Gauteng.”
