A Yellow Level 2 warning has been issued by the South African Weather Service (SAWS) with severe thunderstorms in the eastern Free State. This as a cold snap grips the province.

Forecaster Lungile Makondo says cold conditions to windy and isolated showers and a chance of light snowfall can be expected over the southern high lying areas.
Makondo says temperatures are expected to improve slightly towards the weekend.
“Tomorrow (Wednesday), it becomes very cold to cold and windy with isolated to scattered showers and thunder showers and a chance of light snowfall over the southern highline areas. By Thursday, very cold to cold conditions continue with isolated showers in places and windy conditions in the east. From Friday, rainfall clears, but it remains cold with improving to cool conditions from Saturday with windy conditions returning again on Sunday,” says Makondo.
