IFP suspends chairperson of the Youth Brigade, Mncedisi Maphisa

The chairperson of the IFP Youth Brigade (IFPYB) in KwaZulu-Natal and member of the legislature, Mncedisi Maphisa, has been suspended by the party after a recording of a phone call about alleged incitement to disrupt branch inaugurations was leaked.

The IFP national executive committee suspended him after discussing the issue.

The IFP is busy with branch inaugurations to strengthen its structures in preparation for the local government elections in November.

IFP member Lindi Ndlovu was also suspended.

They will both face disciplinary hearings before the party’s national council.

IFP spokesperson Mkhuleko Hlengwa says the investigation into the matter continues.

“The NEC cautions all IFP members, leaders and structures against divisive, irresponsible and reckless conduct that brings the party into disrepute and undermines unity within the organisation. The IFP remains committed to organisational discipline, unity and integrity, and the preservation of the values upon which the party was founded”, he adds.
