Limpopo police have confirmed the arrest of the grandparents of a missing two year old baby girl, Omphile Sethole.
The paternal grandparents were arrested on Friday. Omphile disappeared from a house in which she was sleeping with the grandparents at Ga-Mabuela village outside Mokopane on May 2.
According to information, the grandparents were surprised to find the child missing and a window open when they woke up.
The child has not yet been found.
Police spokesperson Malesela Ledwaba says the grandparents will face a charge of child negligence when they appear in court on Monday.
“The Limpopo provincial commissioner emphasised that police have assembled experienced investigators from the Mokopane FCS Unit who are working around the clock to trace the missing child and establish all circumstances surrounding her disappearance. She reiterated that we remain committed to ensuring that those responsible are brought to book. The Provincial Commissioner further appealed to communities to continue providing credible information that may assist police in finding Omphile safely.”
