Limpopo Premier Phophi Ramathuba.
Limpopo Premier Phophi Ramathuba has directed health authorities to expedite the tests regarding the alleged food contamination incident at Mmotong-wa-Bogobe village outside Polokwane.
Police and the provincial government indicate that their records point to three deaths related to the incident and not six as reported earlier.
Ramathuba, Health MEC Dieketseng Mashego and Transport MEC Violet Mathye visited those still being treated at Lebowakgomo hospital.
The Premier says the test results will help determine the cause of the alleged food contamination.
“Now where we are sitting, we can indicate to you that forensic pathologists have started with their work to collect the stomach contents also for chemistry, so that we can test for any toxicology. On the other side, those who were still in our hospitals, their samples were collected by the laboratory and we are expecting the results,” she adds. -Reporting by Nsuku Shiluvana
