A season that started so promising is turning into a frustration for the Kaizer Chiefs faithful. After their best start to a season in years, Chiefs have now suffered four defeats in a row, and the supporters are demanding action.
A number of supporters marched to Naturena earlier today, where they handed over a memorandum of demands.
What hurt them most was the 3-nil loss to arch-rivals, Orlando Pirates, in the Soweto Derby last weekend.
Others have also initiated a boycott of matches and the buying of any merchandise until their voices are heard.
“We are so hurt as supporters of Kaizer Chiefs. The management doesn’t care anymore as Chiefs keep on losing. There is no progress in the team,” says one of the protesters.
“Some of our branch members are selling us out. They were even threatening us, saying that if we come here we will know them. Now, I’m telling them, we are not afraid of anything coming from the branches side, because fans are angry,” says another frustrated fan.
“Khosi for life. The most important thing that I think Kaizer Motaung jr. did is to distabilize our entire season by firing coach Nabi. Coach Nabi prepared the team in pre-season. There was a proper foundation,” says another.
The supporters were granted an opportunity to table their concerns inside the Kaizer Chiefs Village.
And the organiser of the march returned with a report.
“Iyathembisa bafethu. We stressed the fact that we don’t want those coaches to go to the next game. They need to address that as soon as yesterday. We need a local coach that understands our football. We went inside and sat on the table (with) Kemiso, we had Vina, and we had Tracy,” says the march organizer.
They seem to be singing from the same hymn sheet that a local coach could be the solution.
Pitso Mosimane and Benni McCarthy’s name have come up.
“My plea to the team management is to get us Coach Pitso. I think he can be able to turn things around. We are losing weight because of this team,” says one of the fans.
“They should try Benni or Pitso. Maybe we can bounce back. Some of us are elders, and we will suffer heart attack because of Chiefs,” says another fans.
Chiefs officials weren’t available for comment.
The club’s next match is against Durban City at the FNB Stadium on the 15th of this month.
