A new political coalition in George in the Western Cape, which this week saw the Democratic Alliance (DA) hold on to its reigns of the Municipality, has also led to a new mayor, deputy mayor, and mayoral committee.
They were all sworn in on Friday at a special council meeting.
The DA renewed its coalition with the FF Plus following three resignations from DA councillors who joined the Patriotic Alliance.
Western Cape DA leader, Tertuis Simmers, says: “A restructured mayoral committee has also been appointed to support the new administration, including alderman Jackie von Brandis as whip of council and MMCs across key portfolios such as social development, community safety, engineering services, human settlements and finance. The DA looks forward to working closely with our coalition partners, the FF plus and ACDP, to ensure stable, effective governance.”
