Lehlogonolo “Shebe Maburna” Chauke in court
Musician Lehlogonolo “Shebe Maburna” Chauke had brought a medical doctor to testify in his new bail application in the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court in Limpopo.
The witness, Dr Malose Chaba, has treated Chauke for head injuries after a car crash in July two years ago.
The musician has been in custody since his arrest in November last year.
He will stand trial in mid-May. He is facing multiple charges, including attempted murder.
Chaba told the court that Shebe Maburna was supposed to consult with him before his arrest in November last year.
“You could notice that the which limb was injured and in terms of the function mobility, the right shoulder would not extend as much. I think it would extend to 90 degrees, where less the other one would extend fully and then obviously psychologically he was not okay as well, he could not sleep, he also talked much about the loss of his daughter.”
Chaba has also told the court that Chauke sustained severe injuries that need regular treatment from an orthopaedic surgeon.
“Under normal circumstances, you can have a fracture, they put a back lap and you go home the same day, but the fact that he was admitted for weeks that show that the injury where server and when you look at the image or looking at the fracture, the bones were completely broken. They were broken and displaced, meaning they were no longer aligned with each other, which then led to the operation that he required.”
