Six die from alleged food contamination in Limpopo

Six people have died after an alleged food contamination incident at Mmotong-wa-Bogobe village, outside Polokwane in Limpopo.

The victims include a seven-year-old girl.

More than 70 people have been taken to hospital.

Those affected ate food allegedly laced with poison during a funeral service over the weekend.

Polokwane municipal ward councillor Jacob Ntlemo says some community members have been discharged from hospital.

“They are around 74 people and then six people died, 2 are from here in Ga Maja, one from Ga Mashashane, three from Seshego. That is what I know. Those who were admitted yesterday and started feeling better were discharged.” – Reporting by Nsuku Shiluvana
