The owner of a pitbull that had mauled an eight-year-old boy to death is set to be sentenced in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court today.
Keabetswe Moroane’s dog attacked Olebogeng Mosime in November 2022.
Moroane has been convicted of culpable homicide after the court found that she failed to properly secure the dog.
The child’s grandmother, Siphiwe Litabe, says the court process has been long and painful.
“So for the whole family, really real for us, is when they torture actually, because this thing was dragging, it was dragging on for a long time now. So we are hoping today it will be the final day. It will be a judgment day. We are hoping for that so that our son could rest in peace. The judgement must be safe, really. The whole family’s wish. Our hope for today.”
