Businessman Brown Mogotsi
North West businessman Brown Mogotsi has alleged that National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola expected a R25 million kick-back from a South African Police Service (SAPS) tender awarded to businessman and crime suspect Vusimuzi ‘Cat’ Matlala.
Mogotsi has also alleged that Matlala paid former police minister Bheki Cele R2 million in return for favours.
Mogotsi is testifying before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry in Pretoria, where his links to Police Minister Senzo Mchunu and Matlala are under the spotlight.
“It is Matlala who told me that these people are very ungrateful. He further spoke about General Bheki Cele and General Masemola, saying that you know these people like Masemola expect R25 million from me. And I have already given him R5 million. He also spoke about Bheki Cele, that he has given him R2 million and he wanted R10 million which R8 million was outstanding,” says Mogotsi.

Furthermore, Mogotsi says he first met Deputy National Police Commissioner Shadrack Sibiya in August last year.
Mogotsi says he briefed him on the irregular R360 million SAPS tender and alleged corruption in Crime Intelligence.
The tender was awarded to businessman and crime suspect Vusimuzi ‘Cat’ Matlala but was withdrawn after it was flagged for corruption.
