The City of Tshwane says it stands united in its commitment to intensify the safety and security of its communities.
City officials say metro police have been conducting successful operations across the municipality in collaboration with key stakeholders, fighting against unlicensed trading, road law violations and illegal immigration among other issues.
The City’s MMC for Community Safety Hannes Coetzee has warned that Tshwane is not a haven for criminality.
In joint operation in Winterveld, City officials arrested 12 suspects, nine for being in the country illegally and three others for illegal trade of alcohol.
Simultaneously in Hammanskraal, 62 Aarto infringement notices were issued to motorists, after dozens of vehicles were inspected.
Furthermore, patrol officers intercepted two vehicles transporting 53 Zimbabwean nationals who were found to be in the country illegally.
The individuals who’ve been taken into custody are now being vetted by immigration.
Community safety custodians in the City say the arrests are a proof that they will not tolerate lawlessness or economic exploitation.
