Visitors to Garden Route National Park urged to remain vigilant

SANParks has cautioned residents and visitors to the Garden Route National Park in the Western Cape to remain on high alert as severe weather conditions increase the risk of flooding across the region.

This follows an Orange Level 8 warning issued by the South African Weather Service of disruptive rainfall for the next few days.

Rainfall totals of between 100 and 200 mm are expected.

SANParks Spokesperson, JP Louw, says all water-based recreational activities, including canoeing and boating, hiking and trail activities at the Wilderness section of the park are temporarily closed.

All hiking and cycling trails in the Knysna and Tsitsikamma Section have also been temporarily closed.
