SARS, SARB, NPA and PP abdicated their responsibilities in Phala Phala matter: Analyst

Political analyst Lukhona Mnguni says the office of the Public Protector, the South African Reserve Bank, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) and the South African Revenue Service (SARS) all stand accused of abdicating their responsibilities in the Phala Phala saga.

All four institutions dealt with the matter and found no wrongdoing on the part of the President in their investigations.

But earlier today, the Constitutional Court ruled that Parliament was wrong in rejecting the Section 89 Panel Report which found that President Cyril Ramaphosa has a case to answer.

Meanwhile, despite being in the Government of National Unity (GNU) with the African National Congress (ANC), the Democratic Alliance (DA) says it will not protect any wrongdoing in the judgment against Ramaphosa in the matter.

Speaking to SABC News, the DA’s Federal Chair Solly Msimanga says as they initially supported the Panel Report, they will now ensure that there are consequences.
