The South African Local Government Association (SALGA) has urged municipalities in the different provinces where inclement weather conditions have been forecast to urgently implement emergency preparedness and response measures.
This was after the South African Weather Service issued a warning for widespread rainfall, flooding, and strong winds in some parts of the country between Tuesday and Thursday.

SALGA spokesperson Motalatale Modiba says the affected municipalities should place all relevant personnel on high alert.
“We equally plead with members of the public to heed warning messages and to avoid crossing bridges, flooded roads and swollen rivers, and to exercise caution when travelling, especially in poor visibility.”
