The Public Service Commission has found that the appointment of Lesedi Mabiletja as the private secretary in the office of Social Development Minister, Sisisi Tolashe was irregular as she did not have the required qualifications and experience.
Mabiletja was later appointed as the acting Chief of Staff in the office of the Minister with a package of more than R1 million.
Mabiletja who has also been found to have committed fraud, has resigned from the Department.
Hendrica Sethole from the Public Service Commission says Mabiletja did not qualify to act as the Chief of Staff and the outcome of their investigation is directing Tolashe to take action against implicated officials.
“Since she was irregularly appointed to act in the position of private secretary she does not qualify to act as Chief of Staff because the post requires an official with extensive experience as senior management level so when you look at her experience and you compare you can see that her experience was actually limited compared to one of chief of staff.”
