President Cyril Ramaphosa has placed National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola on precautionary suspension pending the finalisation of a case he is facing.
Masemola faces four charges relating to the contravention of the Public Finances Management Act. These relate to the contract awarded to Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala’s Medicare24.
Ramaphosa has appointed Puleng Dimpane as Acting National Police Commissioner. Dimpane has extensive experience

Prior to her appointment, Lieutenant-General Dimpane served as the South African Police Service’s Chief Financial Officer.
Dimpane testified before the Parliamentary Ad Hoc Committee in November last year, to answer to the R360 million health risk contract that was cancelled by Masemola last year.
