Accused number two in the Senzo Meyiwa trial, Bongani Ntanzi, seen in the dock.
The second accused in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial, Bongani Ntanzi, claims investigators already had documents in a brown envelope when he was allegedly forced to sign confession statements.
Ntanzi is under cross-examination at the High Court in Pretoria, where he is appearing alongside four co-accused in connection with the 2014 murder of Meyiwa.
The state alleges his confession led to the arrest of the other accused, but Ntanzi denies ever providing information or making a statement at Moroka Police Station in Soweto.
The state says Ntanzi is mentioning the brown envelope for the first time since taking the stand.
However, Ntanzi insists the documents in the envelope were handed to him to sign after he was allegedly tortured.
“ My Lord, I did mention that to the court and I also mentioned a statement whereby they said I gave my statement, confession voluntarily. My question was that why is it that everywhere I go, even at Boksburg, there’s a brown envelope that is involved that we go with.”
