The Special Investigating Unit (SIU) has secured a court order to freeze tens of millions of rands in luxury assets linked to a multi-million rand Eskom procurement scam. In a statement, the SIU says it has successfully frozen 17 immovable properties and seven luxury vehicles, with a combined value of R76.5 million.
The assets belong to businessman, Siyabonga Nkosi, and his network of trusts.
The SIU investigation uncovered that Eskom officials allegedly manipulated purchase orders for electrical relays, critical equipment used to keep the grid stable at the Kusile and Matla Power Stations between 2021 and 2023.
The preservation order, granted by Judge BM Ngoepe, ensures the assets belonging to businessman Siyabonga Moses Goodwill Nkosi and his network of trusts cannot be sold or hidden while the SIU moves to permanently recover the stolen public funds.
