The Hawks say the vehicles, which were seized between 2024 and last year, were forfeited to the state. The Hawks spokesperson, Colonel Avele Fumba, says the proceeds generated from the forfeited vehicles were deposited into the criminal asset recovery account.
The High Court in Pretoria has granted the NPA’s Asset Forfeiture Unit a preservation order of R12.1 million to preserve movable and immovable properties belonging to four accused linked to an illegal mining syndicate.

“Further successes were recorded during operations conducted between 2024 and 2025 across Burgersfort, Mecklenburg, Driekop and Malipdrift in the Sekhukhune District. These operations led to the arrest of more than 20 suspects and the seizure of several trucks transporting chrome. A forfeiture order was also granted for 97 truckloads of chrome, valued at approximately R800 000,” says Colonel Fumba.
Fumba says recovered proceeds are directed to benefit the state.
