A 26-year-old man has killed his girlfriend and then hanged himself in Georgedale, Hammarsdale in KwaZulu-Natal.
The incident happened on Tuesday morning.
According to reports, the couple had experienced relationship problems before, but usually resolved them without any violence.
It is still unclear what led to the killing.
The couple left behind two daughters, aged five years and seven months.
A close family member requested privacy in this difficult time.
United Faith Reformed Church is expected to hold a candlelight service on Wednesday at 14:00 for the victim.
