The Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) says growing South Africa’s economy and creating job opportunities will be its priority if voted into power at the local government elections in November. The party is set to officially launch its Voter Registration Drive in Empangeni, KwaZulu-Natal on Saturday.
It will mark the start of a focused nationwide mobilisation campaign ahead of the elections.

IFP national spokesperson Mkhulekwa Hlengwa says the primary focus will be to ensure economic growth.
“Jobs! That is what we need to provide for young people. That should be the only thing encouraging young people to vote. When we launch our manifesto key things we will be talking about is a strong focus on local economic development. The cities are already concentrated, if you look at the challenges that come with rural-urban migration and the strain that it has on the economy including health care and services, you will understand our mission. So we want to make an offering to young people that if you vote we will actually be able to ensure socio-economic justice for you.”
