Latest crime statistics show that the Mitchells Plain Police Station is among the top 30 stations in the province for various violent crimes.
Residents of Ga-Mabuela Village in Limpopo are continuing their search for a missing two-year-old girl.
Omphile Sethole disappeared from her room in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Her grandmother says she woke up at six o’clock and found the window open.
Community members say they have been searching continuously since her disappearance and say they will not stop until she is found.
One resident says, “Since she disappeared, the community have been searching non-stop. We wish that she could be found alive. We will continue to search until we find her. As a mother, this is so painful. We are not in fear. What if other children also vanish? We must help each other to ensure that we find her. She is so young. It is painful to know that she was at home and someone took her to a place where it is supposed to be safer for her.”

Meanwhile, the Department of Social Development has raised concerns over cases of missing children.
Spokesperson Joshua Kwapa says, “It is quite concerning that at the beginning of child protection month, we start with incidents of children disappearing and so on. But of importance is that it is the responsibility of society to ensure that children, wherever they are, are protected. But of course, the primary custody holders of children, the parents, guardians, need at all material times to make sure that children are protected…”
“But as I said, it’s a societal matter that everybody, especially adults, must do everything in their power to protect children. If they see that children are under any form of threat, be it criminal, sexual, or otherwise, they need to either call the police, call the guardians, or provide protection themselves,” he added.
Authorities have not yet confirmed any leads, as the search continues.
Omphile Sethole (2) was last seen 2 May 2026.
