Eastern Cape ANC shocked by murder of councillor Thumeka Bikwana

The African National Congress (ANC) in the Eastern Cape has expressed shock and sadness at the death of the member of the Mayoral Committee for Corporate Services in the Chris Hani District, Thumeka Bikwana.

Bikwana’s body was found with a bullet wound at her home at Tshatshu Village in Cacadu on Tuesday.

The party has described her as a dedicated public servant and loyal politician.

Provincial Spokesperson, Yanga Zicina, has called on law enforcement agencies to spare no effort in bringing to book those who are behind her death.

“It is sad that in the face of gender-based violence in this province which is heightened we still find such gruesome murders of women who are activists and dedicated servants of the people of the Eastern Cape and the people of South Africa as a whole. We call upon the law enforcement agencies to act with speed and the necessary swiftness that is required to ensure that those perpetrators of such gruesome crimes are brought to book.”
