Member of Parliament Fadiel Adams appears before Parliament’s Ad Hoc Committee on March 4, 2026.
The National Coloured Congress (NCC) Leader and Member of Parliament, Fadiel Adams, is expected to appear in a Durban court on Wednesday on charges related to the high-profile murder case of an African National Congress (ANC) leader, Sindiso Magaqa.
Police arrested Adams in Cape Town on Tuesday for allegedly interfering with investigations into the murder of former ANC Youth League (ANCYL) Secretary-General, who was attacked and killed in 2017.
He faces charges of fraud and defeating and or obstructing the course of justice.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) say the alleged interference involved a convicted hitman at a critical stage of the case.
The lawyer representing Adams says he will challenge the way he was arrested.
The NCC has condemned his arrest.
Adam’s lawyer, Bruce Hendricks, says they are of the view that it was unlawful.
Hendricks says, “When one looks at the arrest and bail, and everything else that goes with it, you ultimately determine whether someone, whether any of the factors in terms of Section 64 A of such persons, as to whether he is a flight risk, whether he will commit another crime, or whether he is a danger to society. None of those is applicable in the circumstances. I also had an opportunity to have the warrant of arrest, and it will appear that the alleged offence occurred last year in January 2025, according to the charge.”
