The Western Cape Department of Education says 29 schools will remain closed in the Eden and Central Karoo district after storms battered the Garden Route and Little Karoo over the past two days.
89 000 children at 125 schools were affected by the school closures on Wednesday and Thursday.
Education MEC, David Maynier, says all other schools will re-open on Friday.
“The affected schools will communicate with parents about the continued closure. Schools will now implement catch up plans to ensure that teaching returns to normal and the schoolwork missed over the two days is covered. Thank you to the principals, officials, teachers and parents for the smooth implementation of the closure and thank you to the first responders.”
