Traffic is expected to be disrupted in Durban as lobby group “March and March” stages a demonstration in the central business district.
The march is expected to begin at King Dinuzulu Park and proceed towards South Beach Point.
Durban Metro Police say they became aware of the march through social media.
Spokesperson Boysie Zungu says authorities will monitor the protest using available resources, including CCTV cameras.
Zungu says, “We as Metro Police, since we have heard, we have made sure that there will be coverage, there will be policemen in all places to ensure that there’s no disruption. We protect the citizens, and we protect the business as well. We will ensure as well that through using our camera rooms, we will check and use our intelligence on the ground to see where they are so that we can be able to protect the citizens.”
Officials say measures are in place to manage traffic flow and maintain public safety during the demonstration.
