Former COPE leader and Free State premier, Mosiuoa Lekota
Former Congress of the People (COPE) Leader, Mosioua Lekota, will be honoured with a Special Official Funeral Category 2 next Saturday.
President Cyril Ramaphosa has also ordered that flags be flown at half-mast at all flag stations from Saturday until the day of his burial.
Lekota passed away earlier this week after a long illness.
He was a struggle activist, the inaugural Chairperson of the National Council of Provinces, the Premier of the Free State, and the Minister of Defence between 1997 and 2007.
The President has sent his condolences to his family and his political party, COPE.
Meanwhile, his family has requested for privacy during this difficult time of bereavement.
He will be buried in Bloemfontein on Saturday next week.
