Residents in various gang-ridden areas across the Cape Flats say they are hoping to hear announcements on increased budget allocations to fight crime and improve social services when Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana delivers the Budget Speech on Wednesday.
Residents in areas such as Bishop Lavis, Gugulethu, Mitchells Plan and Rylands in Athlone, say they are living in fear because of the high levels of gang violence in the area.
They are calling for more policing resources to be allocated to their communities.
A resident in Mitchells Plain say that if people had more jobs, crime could lessen and maintain that employment could change the situation.
