Zulu Royal household calls for unity after court dismisses appeal

The Zulu Royal household has called for the warring factions in the royal family to reconcile after the constitutional court dismissed an application for leave to appeal by a faction of the Zulu Royal Family led by Prince Simakade.

The group had challenged the October 2025 Supreme court of appeals judgment which upheld President Cyril Ramaphosa’s recognition of King MisuZulu kaZwelithini.

Prince Thulani Zulu was speaking at a cultural celebration at eMachobeni Royal palace in Ngwavuma in northern KwaZulu Natal.

“We found the kingship in place because those within the Royal household would sit and consult among themselves. That is why we found it intact. Why must it be destroyed. Let’s reconcile.”
