Witness F denies introducing Sibiya to Matlala

Adv Matthew Chaskalson is leading Witness F’s testimony at the Madlanga Commission in Pretoria on February 3, 2026.

Witness F has testified that he did not introduce suspended Deputy National Police Commissioner General Shadrack Sibiya to attempted murder accused Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala.

The Madlanga Commission is exhibiting chats between Witness F and Matlala.

This follows an order made by the commission that WhatsApp messages on Witness F’s device must be used at the inquiry.

Witness F is testifying in partial camera and is being led by Adv Matthew Chaskalson.

Chaskalson asked: “I’m interested in a chat or message that you sent to Kat McClella on the 4th of March, 2024 at 821, you sent a contact card, and at annexure nine, annexure bundle, annexure to exhibit bundle, page nine, that contact card is exhibited, and it is a contact card for General Sabir with a phone number of General Sabir. And the question I would ask you now, if you want to assert your right of privilege against self-incrimination, you must do so, is did you introduce Kat Matlala to General Sibiya?”

Witness F replied: “No”.
