Former State Security Agency chair to testify at Ad Hoc Committee

Parliament’s Ad Hoc committee will on Tuesday hear from four witnesses, including former chairperson of the State Security Agency Xolile Mashukuca.

The committee is investigating allegations of criminal infiltration, corruption and political interference in the criminal justice system.

The allegations were made by KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi during a media briefing in July.

Some committee members says his testimony will influence whether other high-ranking officials are likely to be called to testify.

Mashukuca is the former chair of the State Security Agency. He will be joined by Pilasande Dotyeni, whose testimony is expected to corroborate some of the key allegations already before the committee.

Two additional witnesses will also appear, though their identities are being withheld for security reasons.

Members say the combined testimony could shape the next phase of the inquiry and determine whether further witnesses are summoned. -Reporting by Mkhokheli Bandla
