Defender of Stellenbosch FC reserve team, Jeandre Gaffoor
Stellenbosch Football Club has confirmed the passing of their DStv Diski Challenge (DDC) player, Jeandre Gaffoor, who died at the age of 20.
Gaffoor joined Stellies last year after parting ways with Cape Town Spurs FC.
After spending many seasons with Cape Town Spurs and later being promoted to the first team in 2024, he did not mind moving to Stellenbosch to play for the reserve team.
In a statement, Stellenbosch FC asked for privacy during this difficult time.
“Jeandre joined Stellenbosch FC’s development ranks at the start of the 2024–25 campaign from Cape Town Spurs and featured prominently as the team achieved a runners-up finish in the DStv Diski Challenge last season. At this time, the club will not be making any further comment and respectfully requests that the privacy of his family and loved ones be honoured.”
