Members of the South African Football Association’s (SAFA) National Executive Committee (NEC) in Sandton on Friday.
The South African Football Association (SAFA) held its second national executive committee meeting of the year under tight security. The last meeting held at the SAFA headquarters had to be adjourned after a physical fight erupted between two warring factions.
Some apparently want current President, Danny Jordaan, to be re-elected for a fourth term, and others want a change.
Chairperson of SAFA’s technical committee, Jack Maluleke, revealed that plans are already afoot to find a replacement for Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos, as the contract of the 74-year-old comes to an end at the conclusion of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The process to find a successor to Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos is about to begin, and the main aim is to have the new coach ready immediately after the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

“We are aware that we are heading for the World Cup and what we want to bring to you is that, according to the agreement with the coach, this will be his last hurdle. So, as the technical committee, we are just to tell you that the process will be starting soon to recruit other potential coaches.”
SAFA is in dire financial straits, and chairperson of the finance committee, Mxolisi Sibam, says they are relieved that they will receive a substantial windfall from FIFA, after Bafana Bafana qualified for next month’s World Cup.
SAFA is guaranteed just over R200-million as a participation fee.
“You all know that the FIFA World Cup has increased teams, the AFCON has increased teams for both men and women and that means for us an association. The likelihood now is that we will qualify for all World Cups coming up, which means to us as an organisation an increase in revenue.”
