Flooded road
The Mpumalanga Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs Department has confirmed that another person has died in the severe floods.
This takes the death toll in the province to 20. The number of deaths in Mpumalanga and Limpopo following heavy rains now stands at 31.
Meanwhile, CoGTA Minister Velenkosini Hlabisa is expected to arrive in Mpumalanga on Saturday to assess the damage caused by heavy rains in certain areas. The areas include Hlabisa, Hoxane, Kiepersol, Mkhuhlu, and Wales in the Bushbuckridge Local Municipality.
Mpumalanga Premier Mandla Ndlovu and the Head of the National Disaster Management Centre Elias Sithole will accompany the Minister.
