Crime Intelligence head Dumisani Khumalo has suggested that Vusumuzi ‘Cat’ Matlala and the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC) Head Advocate Andrea Johnson, may have perjured themselves under oath.
This follows their claims that information was deleted from Matlala’s phones at Parliament’s Ad Hoc Committee investigating allegations of criminality in the criminal justice system.
Khumalo who is appearing before the committee for a second consecutive day, was responding Economic Freedom Fighters leader Julius Malema’s questions.
“From our point of view we can confirm that, because we have the 212- statement, as well as chain statements from whoever handled and dealt with the cellphones – we were the ones that were interested in every bit and piece of information that we might find in those phones and then it will be defeating our own purpose.”
