A Soweto church elder accused of raping a 12-year-old girl in Dobsonville on Good Friday has abandoned his bail application.
However, he may reapply at a later date. Fifty-six-year-old Tshepo Ntsimane appeared briefly in the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
The court heard that outstanding evidence, including a witness statement and video footage, is still to be finalised.
The case has been postponed to May 20 for further investigations.
