The Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) National Council has resolved that its provincial conferences and its national conference will not take place this year.
The IFP says it is postponing its internal elections to ensure continuity and stability while focusing on the upcoming polls.
The party held its extended national council meeting at the weekend.
The IFP controls 19 municipalities and co-governs in KwaZulu-Natal.
Although the party has pushed back on conferences, it says the process of inaugurating branches and holding constituency conferences will continue.
Party Spokesperson Mkhuleko Hlengwa says its provincial conferences and its national conference will be held no later than March next year.
