Mthethwa worked tirelessly to ensure SA attains liberation: Didiza

National Assembly Speaker Thoko Didiza has expressed condolences to the family of South Africa’s Ambassador to France, Nathi Mthethwa, on behalf of the presiding officers of Parliament.

He was found dead outside the Hyatt Regency hotel in Paris on Tuesday.

Mthethwa joined the National Assembly in 2002 as an African National Congress (ANC) MP and served in multiple ministerial portfolios between 2008 and 2023.

He was then appointed as SA’s ambassador to France in December 2023.

Didiza says Mthethwa worked tirelessly to serve South Africa.

Didiza says, “It is a sad moment for our country, more particularly for the family of Ambassador Mthethwa. For a long time, Nathi Mthethwa has been one of those activists in the youth movement, the ANC Youth League, who worked tirelessly to ensure that we attain our liberation, but also forming the building blocks of a new South Africa in terms of youth issues and transformational issues across the board. We want to send our condolences to his family, his organization and to the people of South Africa.”
