NSRI boat during a rescue mission
Authorities in the Western Cape are investigating an incident in which three fishermen died after their boat capsized off Shelly Point near St Helena Bay.
National Sea Rescue Institute spokesperson Craig Lambinon says various emergency services were activated when eyewitnesses reported seeing at least one man clinging to the overturned boat on Saturday.
He says rescue crews recovered the bodies of two men from the water and shoreline.
The third fisherman’s body was located in shallow surf along a rocky shoreline.
