A general view inside the Enyobeni tavern
Enyobeni tavern owner Siyakhangela Ndevu has admitted that it was his responsibility to ensure that there were no under aged children at his tavern, when 21 teenagers died in June 2022.
Ndevu was testifying at the inquest under way at the East London Magistrate’s Court sitting in Mdantsane in the Eastern Cape.
The Inquest seeks to establish if anyone could be held accountable for the death of the children at the tavern based in Scenery Park in East London.

“Whose’ duty is it to ensure that there are no underaged? It’s my responsibility but I will not take control of everything I would delegate other people to other places to see to it there are no loopholes.”
