Deputy President Paul Mashatile says the National Dialogue will continue to take place to build a better country. This after the ANC’s biggest Government of National Unity (GNU) partner, the DA announced over the weekend that they would not participate in the National Dialogue in retaliation to the axing of DA MP and Deputy Minister of Trade, Industry and Competition, Andrew Whitfield, by President Cyril Ramaphosa.
Mashatile was speaking during the Clean Cities and Towns Integrated Service Delivery Program in Welkom.
He has stressed that the National Dialogue is not for political parties but for the betterment of the people.

“The National Sialogue is going to proceed. As we know, we’ve got a convention on the 15th of August. So, we are proceeding because the National Dialogue is not about political parties. National Dialogue is for the people. We want to involve the people as many as possible in the country. We’ll be going out to different wards, engaging people, talking to them, because at the end of the day, we want to come from that dialogue and say, ‘this is the kind of South Africa; we want to continue to build together’,” Mashatile says.
