Two recovering in hospital after Manenberg shooting

A man and a woman are recovering in hospital after they were shot while waiting for a minibus taxi in Manenberg on the Cape Flats.

The man was shot in his head, and the woman sustained two gunshot wounds to her chest.

Police spokesperson FC Van Wyk says a suspect randomly opened fire on a group of people who were in line for a minibus taxi.

“Manenberg police registered two counts of attempted murder, following a shooting incident at Johanna Court on Duinefontein Road, Manenberg, in which a 39-year-old male and an adult female were shot and injured. Both were taken to a medical facility for treatment.

“The male sustained a gunshot wound to the head and the female sustains two gunshot wounds to the upper left side of her chest. The motive for the attack forms part of the police investigation. The suspects fled the scene and are yet to be arrested,” Van Wyk explained.
