The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has reinstated prosecutor Mkhuseli Ntaba following his earlier suspension. Ntaba led the prosecution in the extortion case against Mpumalanga taxi boss Joe ‘Ferrari’ Sibanyoni and others, but failed to appear in court.

He was found in contempt of court, and a warrant for his arrest was authorised by the retired chief magistrate, Tuletu Tonjeni.
He has now been cleared to return to duty.

NPA spokesperson, Kaizer Kganyago, says, “He was cooperating with the investigation, and we know that there is no likelihood that he will interfere with any of the remaining investigations before we make a final decision. Therefore, it was important for the NDPP, in consultation with the DPP in Mpumalanga, advocating Ntuli, to decide to remove or withdraw this letter and make sure that he goes back to work.”
